Statement of Beliefs
Zealous Ministries affirms the essential elements of the Christian faith:
God. There is only one true God: the Father. He has revealed himself in the Scriptures by the name YHWH. God is a spirit that is absolute, infinite, and unchangeable.
Scripture. Scripture is God’s speech. It is the only sufficient and infallible rule for what people should believe and how they should live.
Creation. In the beginning, God created the world, including the Earth. He created the first two human people, Adam and Eve, and made them to live on the Earth. Other than God, all things have their origin, continuity, and purpose ultimately in God.
Humankind. All humans are made in God’s image, such that they have dignity above other breathing beings. Every human person must obey God by keeping God’s law. However, Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying him, and the Creation became subject to decay and death. All people have sinned against God, and deserve everlasting death as their rightful penalty.
God’s Son. The Son of God is truly God in the same sense as the Father, yet distinct from the Father. He became also truly human when he was conceived and born from the virgin, Mary of Nazareth. As a human, he was named Jesus, and was identified as the Messiah or Christ. Jesus obeyed God perfectly, and never deserved the everlasting death penalty. Yet, he died by crucifixion, but rose back to life on the third day. Then, he went up into Heaven, where he now dwells with the Father.
Salvation. When Jesus died, he suffered the everlasting death penalty in place of all those who believe in him. If a person believes in Jesus, then he will be saved from the everlasting death penalty, forgiven of all his sins, and made righteous in God’s sight. Thus, this salvation is given freely by God, and can only be received by believing in Jesus. A person who truly believes in Jesus will seek to obey God by keeping God’s law by God’s help.
Last Things. Jesus will come back into this world to make all things right forever. God will raise all people back to life, and judge each person righteously. He will give everlasting life to all those who are saved, but condemn all those who are lost to everlasting death.
